Hyper Street Fighter II allows players to choose between one of five character rosters from the previous Street Fighter II installments: "Normal", which features the eight characters from the original Street Fighter II "Champ" ("Dash" in the Japanese version), which is based on Street Fighter II: Champion Edition and adds the four Grand Masters ( Balrog, Vega, Sagat, and M. #STREET FIGHTER 2 PSP SERIES#On February 20th, 2022 it was announced that Hyper Street Fighter II was going to be part of the upcoming Capcom Fighting Collection, which was made to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Street Fighter series The Anniversary Collection version was later ported to the Xbox in all regions. In North America, it was released in a two-in-one disc titled Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, which also features Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. The PlayStation 2 version was released by itself in Japan and Europe. Released to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Street Fighter series, Hyper Street Fighter II is a modified port of Super Street Fighter II Turbo in which players can control any versions of the main characters from the five Street Fighter II games previously released for the arcades.Īlthough, originally released as a home console game, an arcade port was released shortly afterwards in limited quantities, turning it into the sixth and final arcade iteration. It brought me into a scene of people that I consider family and have for over 25 years.Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition (Japanese: ハイパーストリートファイターII -The Anniversary Edition) is a competitive fighting game by Capcom that was originally released for the PlayStation 2 in 2003 in Japan and in 2004 in North America and Asia. Was never and still not good at it but man it was a good time.Ī true classic that still holds up today, even if its later iterations are naturally improved and the versions I play when I go back to it today. I still remember seeing SFII in arcades way back when how amazing it was and how I literally would beg my mom to drive me to any place that had it lol. Mega Drive version and Alpha II on the Saturn were my favourites.Ĭhampionship Edition (Mega Drive) Alpha II (Saturn) III 3rd Strike (Dreamcast) IV (PC) IV 3D Edition (3DS) V (PS4) Anniversary (Switch). Ive probably got a few other versions on the VC but I cant remember which. I still remember the Christmas day when I got it bundled with my SNES. ![]() I remember in 5th grade, my friend coming over to ask if I wanted to play some basketball, and I had rented SF2 on snes and told him I didnt feel like going out. I feel like SF2 was a turning point in my decision to be so dedicated to gaming. I love the manga and anime so much, feels tailor made for people like us. Pickings on Nintendo and Sega were slim, and I would have to settle for stuff like the Duel mode in Golden Axe on Genesis for a one-on-one fighting fix in the beginning of the 90s. #STREET FIGHTER 2 PSP MOVIE#I did play SF1 at a local movie theatre but I wasnt that impressed with it. I had played the hell out of games like Karate Champ in the arcade and games like World Karate Championship, IK, Barbarian, and Exploding Fist on C64 but there werent enough fighting games. I had always wished for fighting games to be more mainstream. Such a great game, I played a ton of it on Genesis when I was younger. Played all other games and spin-offs over the years too and have fond memories of most of them. My personal GOAT gaming IP, no game had quite the same impact on me as SF2 on the SNES did. Except for this magical Night during a strange party in Paris catacombs where there was weirdly a snes with sf2 and I wrecked everyone and they worshipped me. I only wish theyd based it off HSF2 instead of SSF2T so you had even more character variations and options.Īnd yet I suck. ![]()
